Our first year was extremely exciting and rewarding when we held our first show which was a Gala Evening to raise funds toward a Mobile Chemotherapy Unit for the charity  Hope for Tomorrow.  At the time we had 22 students who entertained family and friends for nearly two hours with their enthusiasm, fun attitude and love for the dances they had learnt. Since then SJDA has held a show almost every year with more students and much bigger productions where they participate with the same electrifying enthusiasm.

 

We hold exams with ABD, generally once a year, and our students enjoy a 100% pass record where several have received platinum awards.  We also participate in ABD Festivals in South Wales and occasionally in Birmingham which are well supported.  The competition from other schools is extremely competitive, and winning medals is hard fought but very rewarding when successful. We have also had several students nominated for ABD scholarships and have gone on to further education in dance
