SENIOR 1 BALLET AND SOFT MUSICAL COMEDY

Ballet is a very disciplined but beautiful subject and we always recommend and encourage students to take ballet at the earliest age, because it is the platform to all dance and extremely beneficial when studied early. This class is for students aged 14 - 15 years and continues from the "INTERMEDIATE" class and focus on senior level ballet techniques and enhanced performance levels. As well as Ballet we study Soft Musical Comedy (SMC) which is a style of dance taken from the 1930/40’s era. The best way to describe SMC would be a mixture of ballet and lyrical whilst dancing in heels and a long circular skirt.  These two subjects are combined because one can simply not exist without the other and it develops flexibility and strength. This class IS an examination class, and students will be encouraged to enter when Miss Sammi considers they are proficient enough, taking examinations up the higher ABD levels.

CLASS TIMES AND DISCOUNT

Classes are held every Tuesday from 4:45 – 5:45.

A discount is offered for those students that are proficient to study pointe.  Pointe class and Senior 1 Ballet class is offered at a discounted price if taken together (Pointe is held Thursday 6:15 – 6:45).  Sibling and Term discounts also apply, if eligible.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This class is a senior class and therefore taught only by Miss Sammi.  Students in this class are eligible to be in the SJDA Show, which is held every 12 to 18 months.  Our show is generally held at the Neeld Hall in Chippenham over two nights, Friday and Saturday, and is thoroughly enjoyed by students and parents alike.
